Stories in their own words
Write down the stories before the details blur. Who moved where, and why. What the kitchen smelled like. The part of the story everyone remembers a little differently.
Family trees and family history, online
Bearmark Heritage is an online family tree. Each person is a node with photos, documents, voice recordings and stories. You choose which relatives can see it.

What a tree holds

Each relative gets a node on the tree, with dates, places and a few lines about who they were. The name your grandmother used for her village. The street where your father grew up.

Upload the photo from the shoebox and the scanned birth certificate. They sit on that person's node, not lost in a folder somewhere.

Add audio recordings to any node: an uncle telling the story he always tells, a lullaby, a laugh at the dinner table. You can listen to it again whenever you like.
“The part of the story everyone remembers a little differently.”
Write down the stories before the details blur. Who moved where, and why. What the kitchen smelled like. The part of the story everyone remembers a little differently.
Invite the relatives you choose. Your tree is not a public page. Cousins can browse it, add a photo or correct a date.
Thin lines link parents, children, siblings and marriages. You can trace one branch back, or step back and look at the whole family at once.
How a tree begins
Add yourself, or the relative you want to start with. Then add parents, children and siblings, one node at a time.
Attach photos, documents, audio and written stories. Add what you have today and come back for the rest.
Send private invitations to the family members you choose. They can view the tree and add what they remember.

About

Everyday memory slips are familiar. The name that sits on the tip of your tongue. The keys that were just in your hand. Walking into a room and forgetting why. Losing the thread of a story halfway through. Many people quietly worry about growing forgetful the way a parent once did. Many also want to stay sharp, independent and present for the people they love.
Family stories slip away too, one detail at a time. The maiden name. The town across the ocean. The voice that used to tell it best. Bearmark Heritage was built as a place to put those things down: a tree where each person has a node, and each node holds the photos, papers, recordings and words that belong to them.
The look is borrowed from old albums and archive boxes: parchment tones, classic serif type, fine lines connecting one generation to the next. The interface underneath is clean and simple to use.
To give every family a quiet, private place to organize its history and pass it on, one name at a time.
